About the role

The successful candidate will have proven ability to design and deliver strategic policy advice, manage complex stakeholder coalitions, design and execute high-impact advocacy and engagement programs for commercial and philanthropic clients in line with desired objectives. The successful candidate will possess strong investigative skills to analyse and provide commercial and policy insights on energy transition and the political economy. They will translate these critical insights directly into targeted advocacy and engagement programs that drive impact.

What we are looking for

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • At least 8 years of professional experience in the insights space (including political economy analysis and risk and opportunity identification) to support advisory on complex policy and regulatory issues in Africa.
  • Proven experience of analysis and/or consulting around the energy transition is essential.
  • Understanding of environmental and sustainability considerations within the oil and gas industry is important.
  • Expert level ability to analyse and synthesise detailed political economy, policy, market, and industry intelligence to derive strategic insights.
  • The ability to translate these insights into the design and delivery of high-impact strategic advisory and policy advocacy for clients, featuring practical, evidence-based solutions and compelling arguments that promote alignment and influence policy outcomes.
  • Skilled in monitoring advocacy strategies and outcomes, and applying learning to refine strategies, as well as implementing narrative building, campaigning initiatives and innovative problem-solving
  • Proficient in stakeholder mapping, coalition coordination, and relationship management at senior levels across multiple geographies to advance client objectives
  • Experience supporting pan-continental initiatives and working with or within multilateral organisations, regional institutions, donor programmes, or development partners
  • Deep knowledge of, and genuine interest in the West African political economy, with demonstrated relationships with the wider political and policy stakeholder system
  • Experience in climate advocacy, particularly within methane mitigation for the energy sector, is advantageous
  • Degree in a relevant discipline (public policy, law, sustainable development, economics, energy, environmental or related social sciences); postgraduate degree preferred
