Job Summary
The Production Pharmacist is responsible for planning, supervising, and coordinating pharmaceutical manufacturing activities to ensure products are produced according to approved specifications, current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), company policies, and regulatory requirements. The role ensures product quality, efficiency, safety, and compliance throughout the manufacturing process.
Key Responsibilities
Production Operations
- Supervise the manufacturing of pharmaceutical products, including tablets, capsules, syrups, ointments, and other dosage forms.
- Ensure production activities are carried out according to approved Batch Manufacturing Records (BMRs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Monitor production schedules to meet delivery targets and customer requirements.
- Ensure proper utilization of manpower, equipment, and materials.
Quality and Compliance
- Ensure compliance with cGMP, regulatory requirements, and company quality standards.
- Review and verify batch manufacturing documentation for accuracy and completeness.
- Participate in investigations related to deviations, non-conformances, and customer complaints.
- Support internal and external audits and regulatory inspections.
Equipment and Facility Management
- Ensure production equipment is properly cleaned, maintained, and calibrated.
- Monitor environmental conditions in production areas.
- Coordinate preventive maintenance activities with the engineering department.
Personnel Management
- Train and supervise production operators and technicians.
- Ensure adherence to health, safety, and hygiene requirements.
- Conduct performance evaluations and recommend training needs.
Inventory and Material Control
- Verify the availability and proper use of raw materials and packaging materials.
- Monitor material consumption and minimize wastage.
- Ensure proper storage and handling of materials in compliance with GMP requirements.
Documentation
- Maintain accurate production records and reports.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly production reports.
- Ensure all manufacturing documentation is completed and archived according to GMP requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) degree.
- Registered Pharmacist with the relevant Pharmacy Regulatory Authority.
- 2–5 years of experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing (or as required).
- Sound knowledge of cGMP, GDP, and pharmaceutical manufacturing processes.
