ROLE SUMMARY
We are seeking a highly skilled and technically proficient Mechanical Engineer Officer to lead and manage critical mechanical systems across our pharmaceutical manufacturing operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving equipment reliability, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting engineering excellence through proactive maintenance, equipment qualification, and continuous improvement initiatives. This role requires strong leadership, deep technical expertise, and a commitment to GMP and operational integrity.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead the planning and execution of mechanical maintenance strategies for critical manufacturing equipment and utilities.
- Oversee the installation, qualification, and lifecycle management of mechanical assets in accordance with cGMP, WHO, and NAFDAC standards.
- Ensure mechanical equipment reliability to minimize downtime and support production efficiency.
- Provide technical support during external audits, inspections, and risk assessments.
- Lead or participate in multidisciplinary teams for engineering projects, utility upgrades, and factory expansions.
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation of maintenance activities in line with regulatory compliance and audit readiness.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives by optimizing mechanical systems for energy efficiency, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
- Interface with validation, production, and quality assurance teams during equipment commissioning, performance qualification PQ, and requalification.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- B.Eng. or HND in Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in mechanical maintenance in a pharmaceutical or regulated manufacturing environment.
- NABTEB.
- Trade Test 1,2 & 3
KEY COMPETENCIES
- In-depth knowledge of mechanical systems, utilities, and engineering standards.
- Hands-on experience with equipment servicing, repairs, and technical reporting.
- Strong understanding of GMP and pharmaceutical regulatory compliance.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications.
- Good organizational and communication skills.
- Proficiency with CMMS tools and maintenance documentation.
