About Chemists

We are building the future of healthcare in Nigeria. Chemists is a digital pharmacy startup dedicated to solving the challenges of accessibility, affordability, and authenticity in the pharmaceutical supply chain. By leveraging technology, we connect patients to genuine medications, expert advice, and last-mile delivery. We are looking for a visionary pharmacist to lay the foundation of our clinical and operational infrastructure.

The Role

As our Founding Pharmacist, you will hold the license for our facility (acting as the Superintendent Pharmacist) and build the "pharmacy" side of our business from the ground up. You will not just dispense medication; you will design the workflows that ensure every patient interaction is safe, compliant, and efficient. You will work side-by-side with our Product and Engineering teams to translate clinical protocols into code.

Key Responsibilities

1. Regulatory Compliance & Licensing (Crucial)

  • Serve as the legally responsible Superintendent Pharmacist for Chemists regarding the Pharmacists Council of Nigeria (PCN).
  • Lead the registration process of our premises and renewal of annual licenses.
  • Ensure all digital and physical operations comply with NAFDAC regulations and PCN guidelines.
  • Maintain the Poison Book, Controlled Substances register, and all statutory records.

2. Supply Chain & Inventory Management

  • Establish relationships with trusted distributors and manufacturers to ensure a zero-counterfeit supply chain.
  • Implement inventory management systems (IMS) to prevent stock-outs and manage expiry dates (FEFO/FIFO).
  • Negotiate pricing and terms with suppliers to maximize margins while keeping drugs affordable for Nigerians.

3. Operations & Logistics

  • Design Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for order processing, packaging, and last-mile delivery.
  • Oversee the quality assurance of medications during storage and transit (Cold Chain management where applicable).
  • Train and manage a future team of locum pharmacists and pharmacy technicians.

4. Clinical Strategy & Tele-Pharmacy

  • Define the protocols for digital patient counseling and medication therapy management (MTM).
  • Review prescriptions uploaded to the platform to ensure validity and safety.
  • Collaborate with the Tech team to build drug interaction checkers and dosage alerts into our user app.

5. Product & Business Development

  • Act as the "Clinical Voice" in product roadmap meetings.
  • Assist in partnerships with HMOs, hospitals, and telemedicine providers.
  • Assist in digital marketing and managing social media presence and blogs.

Who You Are

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D) from an accredited institution.
  • Licensure: Current, unrestricted annual practicing license with the Pharmacists Council of Nigeria (PCN).
  • Experience: 2-5 years of experience.
  • Superintendent Status: Must be eligible to register as a Superintendent Pharmacist immediately (not currently serving as Superintendent for another facility).

Skills & Attributes

  • Tech-Savvy: You are comfortable using modern software (Slack, Jira, Inventory systems) and are excited about Telehealth.
  • Operator Mindset: You aren't afraid to pack a box, call a rider, or deal with logistics issues in Lagos/Abuja traffic.
  • Integrity: You have an uncompromising stance against counterfeit drugs and unethical practices.
  • Adaptability: You thrive in a startup environment where roles can change, and "office hours" are flexible.

Nice to Haves

  • Experience in a previous HealthTech startup or high-volume retail pharmacy (e.g., Medplus, HealthPlus).
  • Experience with HMO billing and claims management.
  • MBA or certification in Supply Chain Management [Disclaimer: This job description has been formatted by AI for readability. Please verify all details with the employer before applying.]
