Job Description

An Area Sales Manager is expected to:

  • Lead the team and service the customers for a particular product and geography.
  • Responsible for planning and budgeting for the products handled.
  • Execute the Business Plan approved by the management and propose amendments to such Plans.
  • Sales Planning and Forecasting.
  • Achieving Sales Targets as per Annual Operating Plan.
  • Work towards growth in revenue by increasing depth and width of distribution.
  • Establishing relationships with key customers.
  • Liaising with the Marketing department for planning, budgeting & executing BTL campaigns.
  • Identifying growth areas and execute actions to leverage growth opportunities.
  • Closely monitoring competition activities across the chain.
  • Training, Development & Motivation of the team.
  • Perform regular administration and management activities for the corporation.

Other Functions

  • Provide weekly/monthly sales forecasts for the assigned territory.
  • Drive the flawless execution of the sales plan for the territory as agreed with the NSM/Product Manager.
  • Oversee the execution and tracking of marketing activities in the territory.
  • Develop strong relationships and close collaboration with all Distributors in the territory.
  • Monitor Distributors’ turnover and stocks on a weekly basis and ensure that all our SKUs are available and that they meet their monthly targets.
  • Develop and execute action plans in case the Distributors fall behind on their monthly targets.
  • Identify and recruit new customers, both wholesale and retail.
  • Ensure proper management and control of company assets (like sales vehicles assigned to Distributors, POS materials, etc.).
  • Track the execution of the FSMs and TSMs work plan and that of the SRs’ daily/weekly call plan (actual calls versus calls scheduled; productive calls versus actual calls made; outlets covered versus target).
  • Achieve availability of our products at the Distributors' outlets.
  • Identify, create, and execute opportunities with Distributors to increase sell-in/sell-out.
  • Effectively manage the resources allocated for Sales operations of assigned territory.
  • Ensure optimization of team effort towards the achievement of territory objective.

Minimum Qualification

  1. MBA Graduate.
  2. Minimum of 3+ years of FMCG Sales experience.
  3. Entrepreneurial, self-motivated, passionate and ready for higher responsibilities at a young age.
  4. Proficiency in building and maintaining Strong Customer Relationship.
  5. Must possess good data and other analytical and computing skills.
  6. Proficiency in Information tracking, Sales analytics and power point presentation.
  7. Exerting personal influence for initiating action steps and execution of plans.
  8. Decision-making and demonstrating self-confidence.
  9. Applicants must be young, agile, and intelligent.
  10. Tech Savvy-ness is a must.
